Become a Volunteer Storyteller!

Before stepping into a classroom, storytellers receive training. In fact, participation in four, 3-hour training classes is a prerequisite to becoming a certified Spellbinders® storyteller. The cost is $75.00, which covers training materials and a name badge. During the small-group training classes, you will learn about storytelling in general and St. Vrain Valley Storytellers in particular. You will also receive tips on how to find, learn, and tell stories and you will hear stories from active storytellers. You will practice telling stories and receive constructive feedback. Following the classroom training, you will observe an experienced teller in a classroom, share a story, and receive feedback from that teller. Only then will you be placed in a classroom.

Storyteller Support

After training, storytellers continue to receive support through:

  • Consultation with a Certified Spellbinders® Trainer;
  • Monthly membership meetings with mini-workshops during the school year;
  • Special events in the summer to practice storytelling; and
  • Shared story ideas and suggestions from fellow volunteers.
