Storyteller interacts with students in the classroom.

Teachers Agree:

“Having a Spellbinders storyteller tell stories in my classroom is helpful in achieving my academic goals for my students.”

How do I bring a Storyteller to my classroom?

Our volunteers share the rich oral tradition of tales that teach and enchant. These volunteers tell (rather than read) stories to students in grades K-5. Working with teachers, our storytellers enhance literacy, stimulate imagination, and broaden multicultural understanding. We are generally in a classroom once a month for a period of 20 to 30 minutes. Ask around: other teachers in your school may have worked with our storytellers.

I loved how she told a different version of a story we learned in class. It was helpful for the children to connect and be interested in the story. She was great at coming up with stories that matched the time of year and units we learned about in class.
